Do you know how to use Reporter Amharic site's RSS?

Reporter Amharic is one of the well known news portals that has an online presence. For those who don’t have time to go through all the site’s columns, i would suggest they use its RSS. Reporter Amharic is a well built news portal and has RSS.

RSS stands for really simple syndication and is used to present updates from websites and blogs and sites like news portals. Just go to the "Zena" section and click the RSS link on the site and you will get a page with codes. As an Ethiopian Diaspora I am one of those home-sick guys that roam the net for anything that gives them the feel of home. The internet has made communication so easy and thanks for that. Of all the good things it brought news portals are one of the best. You can get up to date news of anything you are up to, even before they are in print. Reporter Amharic is one of those news sites for Amharic speaking people.

A week ago I came across a report that says something good about Ethiopians living abroad. The Ethiopian government is giving an ID for the Diaspora that enables them to have some rights and benefits. I say it is a wonderful move. Most Ethiopians living in different parts of the world have a wish that some day they would be able to come back to their beloved country and live and die there. Life in the developed world, though facilitated, is so much stressful. Social interaction is scarce, if at all it exists. People live “the good life”, with mounting credit from lending financial institutions, in hope of working hard and paying it off.

I am happy reporter Amharic has the "Diaspora" column in it. I don’t know if the name fits right but it is fine as long as it refers to Ethiopians living abroad. I don’t know how many Diasporas are there nor do I know if all love their home country. It is my assumption that many love their country, though they have changed citizenship, and have a desire to come back and live in beautiful Ethiopia for good. When they come back they don't want to be treated as foreigners. No one would.

Living abroad is not as easy as it looks from outside. The excitement and wonder of development and technology fades sooner and the norm settles. People back home may think we are living in one of the wonderful places on earth but for us it feels the same as living back home. All the stresses and battles of life are there too. We all have learned since childhood that any excitement wouldn't last long. we cry and beg our parents for a toy we thought we will play the whole year with, but we find it to be boring the next week. same applies to living abroad.

For all who are going to go abroad, I say, Lots of struggles await you there. You have to find who you are, where you fit, what job you can do, how you communicate with people, how you interact socially, the list goes on. So you will get home-sick soon. This is one of the reasons reporter Amharic is one of the most visited site on the net. Though we live abroad and have another citizenship we want to know what is going on there. We feel we belong to our home country. Hope many of us will come back some day.
