How Do Sunglasses Work?

You may have questioned yourself "why are sunglasses important? Anyone can just figure it out that they protect the eyes from a blazing sun. But do you really know how sunglasses protects your eyes from harmful sun rays?

Sunglasses basically do four things, of course other than complimenting an outfit . One better know how sunglasses are doing their job for him to decide if he needs to have one.

It is a common knowledge that a sunlight has many ultraviolet rays in it. UV rays are the ones that can cause serious damage to the corneas. Sunglasses have a protective coating on the outside which filters these UV rays. They allow light through but filter out the radioactive light waves that can lead to so many problems to your eyes at the same time.

Sunglasses primarily serve to protect the eyes from an intense light. What does intense light cause us to do? squint! This is a natural response of our eyes when an intense light is coming in. But squinting may not always protect the eyes from an intense light so damage can occur to the cornea in the mean time. If you are out in a snow without your sunglasses this scenario may intensify the corneas' damage because the snow reflects and magnifies the intensity of the light and whatever you squint your eyes the rays intensity may damage the corneas.

Another quality sunglasses carry is protecting our eyes from glares. Glares are reflections of an intense light when it lands on a shiny surfaces like water or mirror. These glares can block out your vision for a limited time causing you to be in danger if you are driving. Good sunglasses completely eliminate this kind of glare.

Blue light, one of the lights in a sunlight's spectrum, is the color of light that scatters and causes blurred perception. Yellow, gold, amber and brown tinted sunglasses are especially good for blocking out blue light.

Green sunglasses are very popular because they filtering some blue light and reducing the occurrence of glares. They also offer the highest contrast and greatest visual sharpness. Rose colored shades and purple tints offer the best contrast of objects against a green or blue background and make great sunglasses for hunting or water skiing.

With the information you have been equipped here you can now purchase your sunglass with confidence. Know what to look for when choosing your sunglasses. It may be necessary to have more than one pair for the kind of purpose you want your glasses. This is especially true if you spend a lot of time outdoors on a variety of activities. Be responsible about your eyes and learn to protect your vision while it's still yours to protect!
